Email Marketing?

by kfinkler - Member - 04:45PM, Feb 22, 2008

does shopify have plans for an email marketing tool? I’m not seeing anything in the forums, does anyone have a favorite tool for pairing with Shopify? ie. ConstantContact or myEmma?

- thanks,
kfinkler

I prefer Campaign Monitor above other services…

I like Vertical Response, especially since it can track ROI, and has seamless Google Analytics integration.

Another great thing is that you can send direct mail postcards for about 90 cents each, including printing, shipping, and handling!

Also, with the new Web Hooks feature, you can setup Shopify to automatically export to Vertical Response though API integration.

You could use WrapMail to include all of your Shopify information which would go out with every email you send. If you are 4 users or less it will cost you $20 per month. WrapMail also has a free service.

Thanks for the great suggestions guys, wrapmail is interesting, I’ve been wary of Vertical Response, but if they integrate with Google and direct mail, its worth another look. CampaignMonitor also looks like a great fit for me, and most of my clients—powerful, sleek, and no monthly fee! yay!

I prefer Campaign Monitor over Send Studio, but it’s good for people to have options.

I’ve tested and used several of these, these are my favs, in order:

1. Campaign Monitor/Mailbuild
2. MailChimp
3. iContact
4. Vertical Response

I looked for ease-of-use, template control, list management, an API, and friendly folks (you’ll inevitably need support at some point).

Try a few out before you buy.

We’ve also looked at MyEmma (http://myemma.com/). Has anyone had any experience using this one?

Hey guys—so my question is, and forgive me if this is dumb, but how do you gather the emails from your Shopify sites? Just from the folks who have placed orders? Or is there a built-in tool in Shopify to add an email collection field to my theme template?

Thanks in advance!

We’ve built an auto-add feature for MailBuild / CampaignMonitor via Shopify’s WebHooks… If anyone needs assistance, message me for info.

Just a follow-up, Campaign Monitor now has Google Analytics integration.

i am currently auditioning Constant Contact for our site, as well as Sendloops.

So far: Constant Contact is easier to use. The step-by-step approach that they favour is certainly easier to understand.

Sendloop, on the other hand, is very difficult for me to understand, as the site appears to be translated from another language into English, which seams to leave some holes in basic understanding. I do like their credit system, which allows for 25 emails a month, and accrues monthly, as well as their 1 cent per email sent.

Cost wise, Sendloop wins, at just a penny a newsletter. I will let you know how it works out for the one month I am planning on testing it – I truly hope it will work out well, as the cost savings in the long run will be well worth the initial headache of figuring out their system.

I checked into Emma, they are really nice and helpful. They got me set-up with a demo account so I could play with it..

I’ve been playing around with all of the major email services including all listed above. I fell totally in love with Emma!!

They also design you a custom template, which for me since I’m not a designer is a great bonus!! But you do have access to the code in your admin area (I’m like 99% sure, could be wrong though I like I saw it).

It took me less than half the time to compose a newsletter, compared to the other services, and theirs tons of layout options. It’s supper easy to use, and the emails look great.

For every account they plant 5 trees, and the emails have a little note on the bottom which says “Think before you print..” you can take it off but I thought it was cute.

The start-up cost is pretty cheap considering they custom design a template, and if you’re a start-up business you get a super cheap start-up fee!! The monthly plans are based on the amount of emails sent and if your in the lowest package it’s like 3 cents an email, but once you get to the middle it’s like 1!! So price wise I thought it the same as most, but you get a little more emails than with comparably priced monthly plans. And for how easy and fast it is it’s well worth the slight price difference.

After some experimenting, I have gotten Sendloop up and running on our website, and on our blog. I have to say that, although the initial setup was confusing, I am really liking both the functionality offered, and the pricing. They appear to be actively working on their instructional communication as well.

I really like the ease with which I was able to create new templates as well.

:-)

@Purple Unicorn – I’d never heard of feedblitz until you mentioned it but just been and had a look. Looks like it’s more targetted at bloggers and converting RSS to email.

Persoanlly I’ve been using Mailbuild/Campaign Monitor for a couple of years and I’ve been very happy – so have my clients.

We’ve sent everything from a small list of about 50 up to 93,000 on one just before Christmas and they’ve been handled fine. The emails are quick to leave, the delivery rates are high and the reporting is great.

Yeah, Feedblitz looks really cool but it’s probably not what I’m looking for.

I’ve narrowed it down to Campaign Manager and Vertical Response. I’ll give them both a try and see how it goes.

Thanks,
