Request to administrators regarding ip changes

I just ran into a particular problem with my Shopify stores and I’d like to have a clarification about the matter.
Actually, I can’t access my Shopify stores since yesterday via the custom domain name I created via preferences ( store.unotre.com ) but only via the unotre.myshopify.com address.
Just-ping reports the same problem, it can reach the .myshopify.com address but not the other one. I’m actually getting 100% packets lost on that one.
I first thought at a DNS issue, and I contacted my server administrator, who at first told me it was something not depending on him. I then insisted since the domain still wasn’t working and he told me it was actually a problem with the fact that yesterday myshopify.com changed their ip address (from72.232.46.90 to 204.14.199.4).
He says my dns configuration interface permits only the entering of ip addresses and not domain names. I wanted to ask to the Shopify guys if this change actually happened for real and if yes, if they can in the future communicate the change to users, cause I have no chance but changing their ip address in my cname configuration or having connections lost when this happens.

Thanks in advance

Yes, that particular change has been very poorly communicated, but a couple of things that need to be clarified:

.myshopify.com changed almost a year ago. Since that time we’ve maintained one system at the old datacenter to act as a proxy for people who had hard-coded the IP address in their DNS. That proxy failed yesterday and that’s why your site wouldn’t load.

cluster.jadedpixel.com (.myshopify.com) has the IP address 204.15.199.4, not 204.14.199.4 as you have listed (and store.unotre.com currently has the wrong IP address as a result)

The proxy is currently back online for all those customers, but we are planning to decommission it in the near future. We will contact all those customers who will be affected directly.

Paul.
