Daniel,

Want to setup my shop (healthgains.shopify.com) to point to http://VitaGAINS.com.

So I went into DNS Management on my GoDaddy acct and added the www CNAME, like Shopify says, which only works if you point to URL to http://www.vitagains.com.

My questions is how do I get my shop to point to just http://vitagains.com - with no WWW. Do I need to change the A NAME records to do this?

Thanks,

-Russ

Russ create a fowarder in your GoDaddy admin and foward http://vitagains.com to http://www.vitagains.com

There is a step by step guide in the wiki: http://wiki.shopify.com/Godaddy The screenshots use the old interface, but the instructions are still the same.

I have a similar issue. I'm trying to get the "Home button on my shop to point to my websites homepage instead of the shopify homepage. Do you know where in the code I change that?

Hey Mike that's probably in you main linklist. Click on Naviagation on the back end of your store. You will need to delete the current link and add a new one called home with your web address as the location. Then just re-order the way you want and you're done.

I have an issue with IE. I've posted the feed from my twitter account. However, when there's a long url in my tweet, it offsets the nav bar in IE where viewing on a smaller screen. (This does not happen in Firefox.) My question is: how do I fix this? My url is www.rambles.com.

Maria,

That sidebar is really tight to store tweets update, but...

Try adding this to your sylesheet:

#twitter_update_list {
width:100%;
overflow:hidden;
}

The CSS rule I asked you to add to your stylesheet hasn't been picked up yet. The reason for this (probably) is that your CSS is applied to your theme via an @import statement in stylesheet.css.

Your stylesheet only contains this:

/*
-------------------------------------------
Stylesheet for Rambles.com
July 2008
-------------------------------------------
Design and coding by John Rawsterne
www.rawsterne.co.uk
-------------------------------------------*/

@import url("reset.css");
@import url("screen.css");

Changes to your stylesheets initially go under the radar of Shopify who does not recognize a change has been made in them, hence it's not clearing the cache right away. You should contact your developer (John Rawsterne) and ask him to help you out with this. Using an @import in a .css file with Shopify is a bad idea. You can use an @import to include a reset.css file given that you do not intend to make changes to it once you upload it to Shopify. But using an @import for a main stylesheet? I guess you could rename the stylesheet that's imported (screen.css to screen1.css) and edit stylesheet.css, OR you could add your CSS rules directly to stylesheet.css.

Quick and dirty way of fixing this is to add your CSS inline. Open the template that contains your twitter block and add this to your list markup:

<ul id="twitter_update_list" style="width:100%;overflow:hidden;" ... >
...
</ul>

Or impose a fixed width to your ul list.

I am not seeing the problem you describe in IE by the way. What version of IE were you using when you saw this?

Looking at your site in IE6.

Try this:

#sub-content {
overflow:hidden;
}

#twitter_update_list {
width:140px; /* smaller than the container width by 20px */
overflow:hidden;
}
