Shopify QuickBooks Integration Beta Testers

Update: We're ready to run the beta starting with Quickbooks Premier. Email quickbooks@shopify.com if you haven't already and please state the version of Quickbooks you're using.

We have been working on a QuickBooks integration for Shopify for a while now. The tool is nearly complete, but the true test of success is whether or not the import works with real QuickBooks installations. We are seeking beta testers who are willing to try out the integration on a backup copy of their QuickBooks company file in order to help us work out any kinks. Please let me know if you are interested or if you know someone that may be interested. We'd like to start running the beta test on August 3, 2009. For this initial test the customer will need QuickBooks Premier or higher. Please email quickbooks@shopify.com if you're interested in participating. Thanks, Cody

Good news indeed Cody! What feature is missing from the Pro version that keeps it from being compatible right now? Most of my clients only have pro and that has more features than they need as it is.

No, sorry. We can’t. Quickbooks for mac has no automatization interface – no way to plug in from the outside.

Intuit never seemed very serious about Quickbooks for mac. :-(

Pro has no support for Sales Orders. We’re able to work around this, but the workaround hasn’t been added yet. The integration will ship with support for Pro.

This is great news! I sent the following in an email, but I might as well post it here, too, especially considering the Mac/PC discussion:

I’d love to help you Beta test! My accounting has been the biggest thorn, so I’ve been chompin’ at the bit for this integration.

I use QB Pro for Windows (even though I’m primarily a mac user, for the record. I run it via VMware Fusion, simply because it’s superior to the mac version).

Oh shoot – just reading through & realizing Pro is below Premier. Oh noes! I’d consider upgrading to have the integration… but sounds like you’re on it. How soon do you think you’re going to add support for Pro?

I'd love to add MYOB (UK edition) to the list, but it's futile...

What accountancy solutions are in the market place, that offer purchasing, stock management and invoicing, and have sturdy API?

It's a leading question, as I know most available, but if anybody has any suggestions...

Do we really have to migrate to a cradle-to-grave ERP system just for e-commerce? Why the hell aren't these accountancy developers being called to question like Shopify is constantly being done so on this forum??
