Customs?

Hi,

One more VAT related thread…

I’m based in the UK, selling things (hopefully) worldwide. Now, I understand that I charge UK rate VAT within the EU, but not to buyers outside the EU. So my question is this: will those items get stuck in customs when sent out, waiting for the buyer to pay tax on them to release them? That’s not too good. Is there any way to avoid this?

I’m afraid, NO. It is a normal protocol which must be observed.
I would suggest you clearly express this in your Shipping Policy “that all orders outside the EU will attract Customs Charges, Import Duty, Sales Tax, VAT, etc which you are unable to predict as it varies from country to country and such charges or taxes are the responsibility of the customers.

I hope this makes sense.
